About

A career across every part of IT, now focused on one thing: making AI work.

I am Imran Mughal, a technology and AI leader based in Toronto. My career connects software development, enterprise delivery, PMO leadership, and applied AI. I lead teams and stay close to the work.

Imran Mughal
  1. Web developer

Started my career at watAGE, Inc., a University of Waterloo startup, building large scale documentation systems in SGML when the web itself was still new.

  2. Infrastructure and architecture

Designed and ran the platforms that software depends on.

  3. ERP production support

Led the production support team for PeopleSoft CRM, Sales and Marketing, and the data warehouse. This is where I learned what production really demands.

  4. Delivery and engineering leadership

Led projects, programs, and software engineering teams, and found my passion in getting things shipped.

  5. PMO leadership

Ran a PMO responsible for governance, metrics, and financials. Owning the numbers taught me to ask what a piece of work is worth before asking how clever it is, and that is the eye I turned toward AI.

  6. AI strategy and applied AI

Led applied AI for an enterprise: the strategy, the governance underneath it, and the systems themselves. I wrote the AI strategy, stood up an intake process and risk framework, and mapped a capability inventory of more than three hundred use cases across the business. Alongside it I built the working software, from knowledge and retrieval systems to agent tooling that put AI in front of the people doing the job.

  7. Leading and building

I combine leadership experience with daily work in AI development. I build products, advise organizations, and explore opportunities to lead technology and AI teams through their next stage.

What you can expect

What you can expect from me

01

Curiosity first. I am a lifelong learner and I build with the tools I recommend, so my advice comes from hands-on experience rather than vendor slides.

02

Value over novelty. Years of running governance and budgets taught me to ask what a piece of work is worth before asking how clever it is.

03

Ownership. I take responsibility for delivery, adoption, and the team’s ability to sustain what we build.
